About This Project

A small garden with a big wish-list for a young professional couple. Designed to compliment JCA’s stunning renovation of the house, the client’s brief included a spa, an outdoor shower, barbecue, lounge area, heat to allow year round usage and a sense of privacy. All of this in a space about 12m x 5m and overlooked from all sides.

Pleached trees. Bamboo and Dicksonia were used to create privacy whilst the under-storey planting was lush and tropical, exuding Balinese spa garden vibes in London. Scented climbers wrap the perimeter of the garden blending the brick walls into the background making the space feel larger. For warmth, a gas firepit has the addition of an overhead Heatsail to provide a really cosy lounge space that can be used throughout the seasons.

Last but not least, a roof terrace was designed to be simple with bench seating and cushions with stand alone furniture as well as a refined palette of evergreen plants and Lavender to cope with the climatic conditions 4 floors up.
