The Ascot Spring Garden Show 2018

A Garden For All Seasons

About This Project

2018 is a year of firsts for the Kate Gould Gardens team, starting with a brand new garden show at the Royal Ascot racecourse, The Ascot Spring Garden Show. The show saw six garden designers create show gardens for the first time in the space where the old grandstand had previously stood.

The Design

The show was open to the public in early spring and therefore Kate designed the garden with a strong evergreen feel, it’s pallet of greens demonstrating a colour that is far from boring and one dimensional. The use of all different shades and textures of greens enabled the keen gardening visitors to take away ideas to implement this colour scheme in their own outdoor spaces and maybe embrace the inspiring architectural quality of plants as interest and not only colour. Using texture and tonal shading created a very calming and inviting garden. The bold pops of spring colour made this garden striking and extremely eye catching. The design showcased a variety of usable functions for a garden, this included an outdoor kitchen, dining area as well as relaxed lounge seating and fire pit. Grey porcelain wood effect paving, sustainable bamboo decking as well as corten steel panels and a pergola provide hard edges and add contrast to this exciting planting plan.

Product Sponsors

We had a number of product sponsors kindly supporting us with this build. CED stone provided us with an innovative porcelain paving. Loknan provided us with sustainable bamboo decking. Leisure Plansupplied a range of outdoor furniture by Dedon, a Tibbo dining table and chairs along with super stylish Ahnda arm chairs perfect for lounging in front of the fire pit late into the evening. The stunning fire pit we used was loaned by Encompass and is called Zero. The Zero circular fire pit is designed by Ivano Losa and includes built-in log storage. To demonstrate the best in outdoor cooking OFYR  loaned us the ‘OFYR Island 100. A truly innovative way of cooking the OFYR Island inspired visitors with a passion for outdoor entertaining.
